RSS feeds
What is RSS?
RSS is a technology which allows you to keep track of the day to day information you need,
without the hassle of having to trawl the net.
You can get the latest headlines and articles in one place,
as soon as they are published, without having to remember to visit each site every day.
Not all websites currently provide RSS, but it is growing rapidly in popularity and many organisations
including the Guardian, New York Times and CNN use it.
Here at Offersmore.com we provide an RSS feed that allows you to have the latest offers delivered directly
to you as they are published. So you'll never miss out on any of the great new offers we bring you.
How do I start using RSS feeds?
RSS stands for 'Really Simple Syndication' - and it's certainly simple to use. But first of all you need to get something
called a 'news reader'.
There are many different versions, some of which are accessed using a browser, and some of which are downloadable
applications.
Browser-based news readers let you catch up with your RSS feed subscriptions from any computer,
whereas downloadable applications let you store them on your main computer, in the same way that you either
download your e-mail using Outlook, or keep it on a web-based service like Hotmail.
How can I get a news reader?
There is a range of different news readers available and new versions are appearing all the time.
Different news readers work on different operating systems, so you will need to choose one that will work with your computer.
The BBC maintain a list of news readers at http://news.bbc.co.uk
What's next?
Once you have a news reader, the most common way of subscribing to a feed is to cut and paste the URL of the RSS feed into your
news reader.
Some applications will allow you to drag and drop the orange RSS button below into your news reader
and some will allow you to drag and drop the URL into your news reader.
Some browser based news readers will even auto-detect RSS feeds when you visit a site for the first time and provide you with the
option of subscribing to the feed.
